What age groups do you provide tutoring for?

We provide bespoke lessons & support for all students aged 10 to 16, post-16 learners and adults seeking to improve their maths skills.

How are the tutoring sessions delivered?

We offer both online sessions and face-to-face tutoring at Prinny Mill Business Centre, Haslingden, Lancashire.

Who delivers the tutoring sessions?

All sessions are led by Carolyn, a fully qualified secondary school maths teacher with QTS, enhanced DBS and SEN specialist qualifications.

What qualifications do you have?

I have a PGCE with QTLS (QTS) and am therefore a fully qualified teacher with subject specialist qualifications in numeracy, SEN, GCSE Maths resit & a Degree in Psychology (BSc). I am also a member of the SET Foundation & The Tutors Association

Do you have a DBS? Are you insured?

Yes, I have an enhanced DBS that is on the update service. I have both Public Liability and Professional Indemnity insurance.

Why is Aim Pi Maths different to other tutoring providers?

Aim Pi Maths prides itself in putting the student at the heart of every lesson. All resources & activities are developed to meet the needs of the student. No copy & paste here!

Online lessons are interactive & ensure involvement from the student. At every point in the lesson, I use questioning to check in on learning & understanding. There is no passive watching of videos or lengthy note taking with little knowledge gained.

Face to face lessons are delivered in a setting that has been set up for learning. Warm & welcoming with all the resources needed at hand.

All lessons are delivered at the individual student’s pace, manipulatives used where appropriate with plenty of opportunity to ask questions. Misconceptions are always addressed with focus on progress & understanding rather than simply getting things right.

Students sitting exams are given opportunities to work on exam style questions with full feedback and use of good exam techniques.

My child doesn’t like maths, how will your tutoring help?

I truly believe, with the right coaching & delivering appropriate content at the right level, all students can build confidence in a subject typically seen as ‘difficult’. I always try to engage students in the lesson & do this by making topics relevant to their interests & hobbies or real-life tasks.

My child has an SEN/SEND need are you able to support them?

In my years teaching mathematics I have working with lots of SEN/SEND students. I pride myself in developing lessons & resources that are accessible for all. I have a son with SEN &, along with my qualifications and experience, feel I can adapt lessons to meet the needs of all. I am always happy to work with parents to adapt a way of working that best suits your child’s needs and if you have an EHCP I have experience working with these to develop individual learning plans to address any needs.
